Getting That Movie To Your Ipod
Most of use our iPods only for music, but did you know that you can store and view movies on your iPod as well? Products such as the iPod Classic or the iPod Ttouch have the ability to play video files on their screens, allowing you to watch a movie anytime, anywhere. All it takes is a simple download, convert, and sync to your iPod.
Many services, including Apple’s own iTunes store, allow you to download full-length movies to be played by your iPod. If you download from Apple, you can even download directly onto your iPod and skip the remaining steps, making it very quick and easy.
However, many other downloaded movies may need a few extra steps before they can be played in your iPod. The first issue is that the iPod only views mp4 files. If a video on your computer has an extension that ends in something other than .mp4 (such as .mov, .wma, .avi, etc.), then it needs to be converted so the iPod can understand the file. There are many free programs available on the internet that convert the videos for you, making this step easier than it sounds. There are also various freeware programs that can do the converting for you. A simple web search will yield thousands of results.
The final step is to sync the video onto the iPod, which is easily done through iTunes. Simply open the mp4 file with iTunes and add it to your library. The next sync with your iPod should copy the movie to your iPod, allowing you to disconnect your iPod when done and play the movie in your iPod. Congratulations! You can now watch your movie on a bus, in an airport, or any other place where you have some time to kill. It’s as simple as that!
